Biscuit People Conferences: A Journey Through Five Years
In the ever-evolving world of business conferences, the Biscuit People Conferences (BPC) have carved out a unique niche, steadily growing in prominence and influence over the past five years. From its humble beginnings in Rovinj, Croatia, in 2018 to its upcoming editions in Dubrovnik in 2022 and 2023, the journey of BPC reflects not just the growth of a conference but also the dynamic shifts within the biscuit industry itself.
BPC2018: Rovinj, Croatia
The inaugural Biscuit People Conference took place on April 26-27, 2018, in the picturesque city of Rovinj, Croatia. Known for its charming old town, cobbled streets, and vibrant port, Rovinj offered a perfect backdrop for this first gathering. The event was held at the Hotel Eden, drawing over 60 leading industry executives, independent consultants, and other biscuit experts from around the globe.
Over the course of two days, speakers from seven different countries addressed various pressing issues in the biscuit industry. Topics ranged from acrylamide mitigation in biscuits, crackers, and wafers to broader industry trends and challenges. The event’s success was echoed in enthusiastic testimonials from participants, who praised the conference’s organization, content, and networking opportunities.
“A huge round of applause to Marijo and the amazing team at Biscuit People for having such a lively and rewarding event! I am thrilled to be part of such a vivid, vibrant and professional community!”
Nicoleta Florescu
“Once again, I would like to congratulate Biscuit people team for the launch and organization of the Biscuit people conference in Croatia. I think this conference was necessary to all industry members, regardless of other congresses in the market.”

The second Biscuit People Conference was hosted in the historic city of Pula, Croatia, from April 3-6, 2019. Pula, the largest city in Istria County, is renowned for its rich history and well-preserved Roman amphitheatre, the Pula Arena. This ancient city, which once inspired literary figures like Dante Alighieri and James Joyce, provided a culturally rich setting for the conference.
Held at the Park Plaza Histria hotel, the conference built on the success of its predecessor by offering more speakers and an expanded range of subjects. Attendees were treated to not only insightful sessions but also the chance to explore the beautiful Verudela Peninsula and Pula’s numerous cultural landmarks. This edition reinforced the conference’s role as a vital meeting point for industry professionals to exchange ideas and forge new collaborations.
"It was a really amazing experience for me, because it's more than an exhibition, since I could meet the people that come from all over the world. Some of them I already knew so it was good to meet them again, some others I only know let's say on the phone so it was nice to put a face on a voice and I also had an opportunity to have new meetings and also meet new friends."

Errebi Technology, Italy"I think it's been a very good experience. The conference covered all the major topics of the biscuit industry: ingredients, process, packaging, regulations, everything was very well covered. After several postponements due to corona, the Biscuit People Conference returned in 2021, this time in the serene coastal town of Umag, Croatia. The event took place from September 15-18 at the luxurious Melia Coral hotel in the Katoro Resort. Umag, with its beautiful Adriatic coastline and peaceful surroundings, provided a tranquil environment conducive to both relaxation and professional development.
The 2021 conference focused on addressing current challenges in the biscuit industry, with sessions designed to offer practical solutions. The format encouraged interactive participation, with attendees and speakers alike engaging in lively discussions and knowledge exchange. Informal networking sessions further facilitated the establishment of new business connections and collaborations.
BPC2022: Dubrovnik, Croatia
After the great success of the previous three conferences in Istria, the Biscuit People team organised the fourth conference, in another tourist pearl, but this time in southern Croatia city – Dubrovnik. The Biscuit People Conference took place from October 25 to October 28 in Sheraton Dubrovnik Riviera Hotel, located between the Airport and the old town, in secluded surroundings with an amazing and private view over Srebreno’s bay.
We welcomed biscuit enthusiasts from 31 different countries. We had a fantastic three days in Dubrovnik, seamlessly blending work and pleasure at the Biscuit People Conference. Mornings were filled with insightful sessions and networking opportunities with industry experts. Afternoons allowed us to explore the historic city, walk along its ancient walls, and savor delicious local cuisine.
I learned so much from suppliers of ingredients, and equipment. I picked up on so many opportunities to improve things in our business, I made so many friends, the networking is just awesome. I would really recommend food technologists and biscuit makers to attend this conference so that they can expand their knowledge and make the right contacts that will allow them to solve their problems easily.

National Brands, South AfricaWe're very very thankful that we had this opportunity to really touch base with the European market, with the biscuit people. Everyone's so warm, I think it's the culture within the community. Everyone is very welcoming which makes it easier for us to really converse about what's happening in the industry, share some personal experiences, and learn from each other.

We enjoyed Dubrovnik so much that the Biscuit People Conference returned there in 2023, bringing together numerous biscuit manufacturers, ingredient and equipment suppliers, consultants, and associations.
During the period from September 25th to September 28th, we engaged in knowledge exchange, forging valuable connections and gaining insights that enriched our experience. After a highly productive and successful first day of the conference, we all gathered in the evening for a memorable boat excursion that offered breathtaking views of the coastline around Dubrovnik. This picturesque journey was followed by a delightful dinner, providing the perfect setting for networking and building connections among our attendees.
The combination of professional growth and leisurely activities made the conference an unforgettable experience. We left Dubrovnik with renewed enthusiasm and valuable insights to apply in our respective fields.
BPC2024: Curitiba, Brazil
After five successful years of hosting conferences in Croatia, the Biscuit People Conference decided to fly to Curitiba, Brazil. This exciting move marks a new chapter in the conference’s history, expanding its reach and embracing new opportunities in South America.
Curitiba, known for its vibrant culture and innovation, provides an ideal setting for this prestigious event. From October 2nd to October 4th, industry leaders, manufacturers, suppliers, and consultants from around the globe will converge in this dynamic city.
We are excited to explore Curitiba’s unique blend of urban sophistication and natural beauty. Evenings will offer ample opportunities for networking and cultural exchange, fostering deeper connections among attendees.
The move to Brazil also aims to enhance our engagement with the Latin American market, opening doors for new collaborations and business ventures. We look forward to the diverse perspectives and innovative ideas that this vibrant region will bring to our discussions.
