Dave Welch joined Baker Perkins as a student engineer in 1998. After graduating with a degree in mechanical engineering from Aston University he worked as a commissioning engineer on sites around the world on a variety of process lines but specialising in biscuit plants. As well as extensive experience of Baker Perkins products and processes Dave is familiar with the operational side of biscuit production having also worked for a biscuit manufacturer. Dave was appointed chief engineer for the biscuit product line at Baker Perkins in 2014 and has recently overseen the introduction of a new range of hygienic forming equipment plus significant upgrades in performance and control of the oven range. Dave’s wide hands-on experience, as both an equipment supplier and user, has provided him with a unique perspective on the production challenges facing biscuit manufacturers and this insight is being put to very effective use in the design and supply of Baker Perkins biscuit equipment.
